Unit 1 & 2

Clay Wedging

Practice wedging clay, cut it in half, then take a picture

Small underglaze piece

Plan:

For my small underglaze piece I wanted to do something easy, so I chose a slump mold. For the design I wanted to do small flowers with a plain background.

Reflection:

I like how my piece turned out, I think the design turned out good. If I were to redo it I'd use a super light pink or a cream backgroup rather than blue.

Historically Inspired Piece/choice piece

Plan:

For my historically inspired piece I made a small dish inspired by old swiss pottery. I also made this my choice piece because I modernized it and made it simpler.

Reflection:

I love how this piece turned out and it was super fun to make. I would add more detail and get rid of the swirls and replace it with something more intricate if I were to redo it and have more time,

Stamp

Plan:

I did a heart stamp because I figured it would be an easy shape for a first project and it would be cute.

Reflection:

The stamp is a little bulky, if I were to redo it I'd make it smaller and more clean.

All Pinch Pots

Plans:

For my pinch pot made into something practical, I made a watermelon dish. For my two pinch pots made into one piece I chose to do a vase because it seemed like the easiest and most practical option.

Reflection:
For the watermelon dish, I wish the design had turned out better, I got lazy and I should have smoothed the pinch pot out more before painting. For the vase I was unhappy with the shape and I would have made the top more thin and have it be more tapered rather than a ball shape, I also dont like ths top and wish I had made it more clean.

Masterpiece Tile

Plan:

For my masterpiece tile I wanted to do starry night because I've always wanted to try painting the sky in it.

Relfection:

I love how this piece turned out and it was the most fun to make out of any piece I've done. If I were to redo it I'd let eh clay dry more before starting underglaze because my paintbrush left dents in the clay.

Face sculpture

Plan:

For my face sculpture I wanted to do a sort of sad expression

Reflection:

The face did not turn out as good as I was hoping, I think it's okay for being so soon into learning ceramics. If I were to redo it I'd make it thinner so it could be fired and I'd make it more expressive.

Small Animal

Plan:

For my small animal I chose to do a mouse that I had seen on pinterest because it was cute and looked fun to make

Reflection:

I like how it came out but if I were to redo it I'd make the body more thin and look more like a mouse rather than a head with a tail.
